A Codex is any reliable source of knowledge of the Vast, in general or in any of its particulars. The Catalog is one such codex; the Remembry is another. The halls of Anesidore (the Six Orbits of Space) are also a codex, as indeed are all icons. The Vast itself and even Talon can be considered codices.
